Colorful Contemporary Refresh
For this design consultation, I helped a couple transform their newly purchased Washington home into a space that felt both modern and reflective of their personal style. The main living area was anchored by a redesigned fireplace, replacing a traditional wainscoted surround and brown granite face with a streamlined concrete-look finish and modern mantel to create a clean architectural focal point. We selected a deep ocean blue sectional with tailored track arms, accented by burnt orange pillows that complement the antiqued copper Catalina nesting tables, while oversized cream swivel gliders created an inviting secondary seating nook. In the formal living room, a brown chenille track arm sofa, neutral swivel chairs, and a sculptural marble oval coffee table established a balanced, sophisticated foundation, enhanced by a statement flush mount at the tray ceiling. Fresh neutral paint brightened the space, and we thoughtfully integrated the clients’ existing casegoods with subtle updates, layering in plants and decor to create cohesive, welcoming rooms that feel both elevated and personal.
